More about it

Health Insurance that moves with you
– From Campus to Career

Starting your professional journey in the U.S. comes with big dreams – and new responsibilities.
One of the most important? Finding the right health insurance.
If you're on OPT or an H-1B visa, you’re no longer covered by a school-sponsored plan.
You need insurance that not only protects your health but also fits your visa status and possibly your future employer’s requirements.

Good to know…

Here are a few key points about health insurance during OPT & H-1B.
Understanding these can help you stay protected while working in the U.S.

What happens to my student insurance after graduation?

Most student plans end when your academic program does. That means you’ll likely need a new plan for OPT or H-1B.

Why can’t I just keep my school plan?

Once you're no longer a full-time student, you may not be eligible to stay on your school’s plan – even if your visa is still valid.

What kind of insurance do I need for OPT or H-1B?

You’ll need a private plan that fits your visa status. Our plans are made for students on OPT, STEM OPT, and H-1B.

Is the coverage flexible?

Very. You can enroll for just 3 months or for longer. That way, you’re covered during transitions – and not locked in if you get employer insurance later.

When should coverage start?

Right after your school coverage ends. You can choose your own start date and get instant proof of coverage – perfect for your EAD application or when you need to show proof of insurance for your visa.

Do I need an ACA-compliant plan?

If you’re an international student on OPT, STEM OPT, or just starting on an H-1B visa, you may not need ACA-level coverage. In many cases, a non-ACA plan is fully acceptable — and more affordable, too.
